    hey guys,

just noticed that over the last couple of months the donations have decreased every month since we were able to at the beginning of the year.. just wondering if the community has any ideas they can throw in the wind to see how we can boost em...

i dunno.. maybe incentive based donations... ie; constant donors can have their chance at the map list for the month/week.. or maybe.. (thinking outside the square here) a section of the previous donations can go into making a shirt or something ... (again giving us all a little input and sense of community belonging) the highest contributor could win a shirt or something that may represent Bid-D to the real world.. this may boost numbers as well as a bit of free advertising.. i'm not sure how to work it but there must be a way to keep the donations rolling so we can all enjoy our community just that little more...

these are only ideas so i would appreciate it if there wasn't any crazy replies to prevent this thread from being locked.. keep it in context and we should be apples.. :fans:

Perhaps people that donate get a special badge/symbol next to their name on the forums, when a topic comes up we can snigger at the people that don't have one and therefore bully them into contributing.

    Example:
    Snowman [donator]: Hello everyone
    *Everyone*: hello snowman!!

    Elmo [donator]: Hi people
    *Everyone*: hi Elmo!!

    Buzard [no donator]: Hello people
    Awkeward silence....

umm maybe raffle for a shirt by any donation over 5$ each month. Highest donation for the month is not fair on those that can not afford as much as others.

Though the cost of the shirts would have to come out of the actual donations...so would have to seem worth it and have enough interest.

You could use one of those reserved spots some servers have so when it's full there's always a spot for you.

Winner gets his/her spot for the month reserved.

If you get perm banned then you should have to pay to be able to play again.
Also, maybe admin powers should can be bought. Not the whole thing but maybe $20.00Au can give someone the ability to kick-warn but not perm ban.

I like aresniks idea, personally i would pay to have a reserved place in the server. It would help to keep the more frequent donator/players in and raise the standard of gameplay.(not that i dont like new players)

    *edited for slightly better grammar*

we could give out in game LAV rides round the map and get Bigd members to stand round and shoot at the LAV and let them kill you so you could charge a $10NZ or approx $20Au for that and the could be on another server.

I contributed at the Reality Mod forums and they gave me a little
"supporting member" label for my avatar.

This is a good idea for a thread.
    Thanks, Chrisso.

We should all be looking at ways to improve this community.
Looking at what Unites us, not what Divides us (as has been
the case in some threads recently).

    _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Admin abilities to kick/ban will never be granted without
having to take on all the other responsibilities
of an admin. It's like the recently floated idea
    of "deputy admin".

I don't think asking people to pay to play again after a ban
is sensible as this is a free mod in the first place and most
    bans are not irrevocable.

A modest amount of advertising on this website is one way
to raise a nominally small amount of cash. I have previously
suggested asking the ADF to advertise here but there didn't seem
much enthusiasm for it. Also - banners will raise only a small amount of
money with the sorts of community numbers we have.

Yer. So something like, everyone goes into a draw who donated and the winner gets the spot reserved for them for that month. Sounds fair to me. :hi:

I was only joking about outcasting people, I have seen that option on other forums and it seems to work well. Admin rights are something that needs to be earnt and not bought, you could get any 'tard' or 'immature person' buy admin rights and take advantage of it, as mentioned in other threads I beleive there is much more work than meets the eye of 'admining' than !b and changing maps.

Perhaps name and fame people who donate.

    dude, no problem... :)
my point was directed elsewhere ;)

    PM sent :)

I don't think it is possible to reserve spots on the server.
I heard someone in Mumble recently say that the numbers in brackets
represent the number of reserved spots on the server but I believe
they represent people loading in who are not yet in-game.

It is indeed possible... I believe TG do it in the exact fashion that is being proposed. If the server is full and a 'supporting member' tries to join, it picks someone at random, kicks them and then the supporting member joins in.

TG's set up is pretty good. It also forces you to join a squad *hint* or be kicked.
Although with the supporting member kick, the server will pick the non-supporting member who has been in the server the longest and kick them. I've never been kicked for a supporting member there personally so I think it happens pretty rarely.
